The Italian Embassy in Dhaka said that the visa-related entanglement will be resolved in the coming months. The embassy gave this information in a statement on Saturday. It said the embassy has provided full assistance to the police authorities of both countries and is actively contributing to the detection of fraudulent activities.
An Italian police investigation into the visa issue recently resulted in charges against two former embassy staff. Among them an Italian and a Bangladeshi citizen, the court ordered them to be placed under house arrest.
The Embassy believes that such initiatives are proof of the strong stance taken by the Embassy and other relevant authorities to dismantle criminal networks.Visa applicants are requested not to give any information or money to anyone other than consular and service fees officially published by the embassy and VFS Global, the statement said. Also it is recommended to avoid third party intermediaries.
The Italian Embassy in Dhaka has requested applicants to report any misconduct related to the application process to the authorities. In addition, the visa processing time has been reduced due to bringing in additional staff from Italy in recent weeks and the existing problems will be resolved quickly in the coming months, the statement said.
