With the rapid advancement of technology, 6G technology is now the center of discussion around the world. An expert from the China Academy of Engineering said on Thursday at the 2025 Global 6G Conference that China is preparing to launch 6 commercially by 2030.
He predicted that future smartphones will become AI-powered terminals, making it faster and easier for users to create content, Chinese media outlet CMG reported.
At the conference, expert Wu He Chuan said that the journey from 5G to 6G is not just about increasing speed, but also a technological transformation. While 1G to 4G was originally limited to voice and data services, 5G is being used in industrial applications.
However, the expected progress in the industry has not been achieved. This is creating new challenges for the development of 6G.
Wu Chuan also said, "6G will bring a new generation of terminals, which will be AI-powered."
Yu Xiaohu, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of Purple Mountain Laboratories, said that 6G will not only bring high-speed internet, but also an era of new technologies, including sensing and low-altitude communications.
He also said, "In the 6G era, communication, computing, AI, and industrial control will come together to create a super-converged system."
The Global 6G Conference, which began on April 10 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China, will continue until April 12. The theme of this year's conference is 'Frontier Innovation Driving 6G Development'.
